Hello! I’m delighted you are visiting my website. Through the wonders of 21st century technology, you are linking up with someone who, at the time of writing, is looking out at a sun-soaked Cardiff Bay from the balcony of his third floor apartment!
I’ve been self-employed for the past eight years, after spending 30 years before that in newspapers and magazines. After having to endure an energy-sapping commute, it’s nice these days to be able to pop out before the working day for a quick stroll through the local marina, watching the ducks and listening to water lapping.
I’m originally from Manchester, but spent most of my working life in the Midlands and South West of England before moving to Cardiff five years ago with my wife. We have three adult children and three grandchildren.
I have lots of interests – books, art, sport and archaeology among them – but my number one obsession is Spain and the Spanish culture. I have been learning Spanish for several years, practising via online link-ups with people in Spain – I have made several good friends in the process.
Photography is also one of my spare-time passions, as well as something I offer as a service. I recently gained a first class honours degree in the subject. My final major course project linked my two main interests, focusing on the involvement of British volunteers in the Spanish Civil War.
